STRUNG UP AGAIN
9/21/95. 11:59pm CDT. Home.

Last week was OK -- some good response, the usual crowd. I had to follow an under-prepared improv group -- they even had to explain how the sketches worked to some of the improvisers themselves -- who I had to follow again tonight. They were not great.

Tonight they were a little better. Their act was cut short by rather a pushy little Magic Bean regular who wanted to read a paper she'd written in high school about getting her bellybutton pierced.

Then two guys with guitars, the Chachis, who had also played between improv and me last week, played again. They're pretty good.

Me, I don't know. Tonight I broke a string (the G) while rehearsing at home, and replaced it with an old one becuase that was all I had. At the gig I got to the first chorus of the first song ("Mirror") and broke my A string. Ran off and replaced it with an old one -- which was actually a D string -- and tried again. I got through two more songs then started into a third. I got about 3/4 of the way through and broke the D string.

I quit for the night. How could I not?
