X-Rays

STRANGE THAT HE USED A CREDIT CARD, THOUGH
Summer 2003. 7:30pmish CDT. Midtown Tulsa.
The guy in front of me in line at Borders was buying two things.
A copy of 2600 magazine, the computer hacker's quarterly.
And a copy of Kevin Mitnick's book The Power of Deception. The same Kevin Mitnick who spent a good chunk of time as a guest of the federal prison system thanks to his supreme computer hacking skills.
I was thinking to myself, man, either this guy's a system administrator, or he is UP to something.
Then the girl behind the register asked him if he wanted to sign up for their email newsletter.
Somehow I knew the answer even before he said it.
